Winter can be a trying time for our skin. The dry, cold, harsh weather really can sap your skin of its vibrance and suppleness. I thought I would jot down a few of the products I love, that help me get through the winter months!
A Moisturizing Mask:
Avoid clay based masks during the Winter months because they generally tend to dry out the skin. Go for a creme or gel mask that will plump up and restore the moisture back to your skin! I love the Skin Republic Masks, they leave my skin feeling dewy and revitalized after a week in the cold.
Glow enhancing Toner/Mist:
An Vitamin rich, acid toner/mist will be your savior during the Winter – it restores our skins glow and acts as a gentle exfoliant. I love my Environ Alfa Forte toner, it is very high in acids and Vitamin A, so I would suggest using a slightly less intense toner such as the Body Shop “Vitamin C Energizing Face Mist” or Environ “Revitalizing Toner”.
A Fine-Grain Exfoliant:
An exfoliator is a necessity during Winter to remove the dry, dead skin cells and to ensure your skin is regenerating healthily ever night. Exfoliate around 2-3 times a week depending on your skin situation. My favorite is the Esse “Cocoa Exfoliator”, but the Body Shop “Microdermabrasion Exfoliator” is incredible too! Don’t be too harsh when exfoliating your skin, rub firmly but gently in circle motions around your face.
Buy the Microdermabrasion Exfoliant through the link or at the Body Shop!
A Gradual Tanning Body Lotion:
Just to give your skin an extra boost and glow, theres nothing like a little help from a gradual tanning lotion. Dove make an incredible gradual tanner that’ll leave you looking like you’ve just come back from a coastal holiday! Just remember, only use these products around 3 nights per week – or you might end up a bit darker than intended.
A Moisture-Intense Hair Mask:
Your hair, like the rest of your body, also takes a bit of a beating during winter, especially since people tend to straighten and blow-dry their hair more often, to stave off the cold! I love the Moroccan Oil hair masks and oils, they do an incredible job at restoring moisture and bounce back into your hair! If you wanted to go the more natural route – 2 Tbsp of Coconut Oil, 1 Tsp of Cinnamon and 1 Tsp of Honey, heated in the microwave until melted – prove to be my ultimate home remedy for silky hair! (Apply to the full head and leave overnight rinsing in the morning)
